Trollbeads People’s Unique Beads: But are they Uniques?

Trollbeads People’s Uniques are here! But wait… are they Uniques if they come in kits or have official names? What gives? If you too are wading in confusion about this collection let me give you my take on this lovely official addition to the Trollbeads catalog.

After much thought I believe I have figured out this release. Initially we were confused. Why call them uniques if they are named and mass produced? Haven’t we seen some of these before (I’m looking at you Night Sky Glitter)? And what links them together so much that they would be a kit? Hear me out- I think (but have not been provided clarity on this theory) these are the most popular of the uniques that came out WAY back when, over a decade ago, when uniques really burst on to the scene. Trollbeads Akron’s home base in The Gardener of Bath has been selling Trollbeads for over 12 years and I have personally working with them for 10 and I recall Uniques like the Traces on Purple and Night Sky Glitter first coming in and knowing this was going to change the way we sold beads.

Are we still really calling these Uniques? I say yes. Take a look at the photo above. All these glass beads are the Night Sky Glitter bead. All similar in idea, but very different in color and much like the Milky Way bead, all the flecks of silver are so different. If you are shopping for a particular “look” in these beads I would recommend requesting photos by emailing us at support@trollbeadsakron.com.

Now for my review! Am I getting the beads? 100%- well not quite. The Multicolor Spirograph, as fun as it is, does not really fit my color palette in my personal collection. The others? Sign me up! Especially the Waves of Sea and the Everchanging Lotus, which are my favorite beads of this collection. I LOVE the retro look of the Waves of Sea– I swear my Grandmother had a bed spread from the 70s with the same wave pattern and colors.

I think the Everchanging Lotus is stunning. The color combination is right up my ally- the milky purple and blue of the flower and the navy background? A dream. Then add a bit of sparkle to the navy? Perfection! I really like pairing this with a peacock pearl, but I also think you could make something really beautiful with a Denim Prism.

What are your thoughts on this throwback collection? Do you already have some of these beads in your collection? Were there some beads you passed on the first time you saw them and now you have a second chance to make them a part of your collection? Leave your thoughts below!
