Trollbeads Spring 2021: New Wisdom

Often when anticipating new Trollbeads releases there are a few beads I can’t wait to get my hands on. We all know that there are often BIG differences between the stock images of some Trollbeads and what they are really like in person. Sometimes I am excited for a whole glass kit. Rarely (and I mean maybe 3 times in the last 10 years) am I totally agape with an entire release. This is one of those times.

I had been feeling a bit anxious about the incredibly large retirement coming this week and worried about the holes it would leave in the collection and consequently in our store displays. However, when the package of new Spring beads arrived at the shop, it was like a soothing balm was magically applied to those worries. When I first laid eyes on the new glass kits, I instantly knew that each kit was cohesive, where often this has not been the case historically. In fact, I often feel that glass kits contain two sets of three beads that go well together instead of one set of six. Once I started playing around with the new beads, my initial response was confirmed. For example, I used the entire Mists of Nature kit in a design that you can see in the bracelet pictured below. In addition to being cohesive, the new glass beads, for the most part, are quite neutral and will be very easy to incorporate into partially completed bracelets that include Trollbeads from previous releases.

Oh, and how about the new inscribed spacers! I feel like after 2020 we can all appreciate these positive affirmations a bit more. The ‘I am Grateful’ Spacer is now going on more than one of my bracelets and ‘My Life is a Gift’ is going to need to be featured in one of my upcoming designs.

I have very little to say about this collection that isn’t praiseworthy. But there are a couple of new pieces that aren’t making me swoon. Take the New Wisdom bead, for example. Did we really need another Wisdom Trollbead? Don’t get me wrong – this one is still gorgeous – but why create a second one that’s so similar to the original? I also wish the Folklore Wisdom sat a bit more centered on the chain. I know that it’s shape makes it a great splitter for a fantasy necklace, but I would have loved to include this cutie on both bracelets and necklaces. It was hard to put together a “must have” list for this release but here is what I will be snapping up for my personal collection today. MUSTS: 1.) Mist of Nature Kit– May be my favorite complete kit released. Ever. 2.) Clarity Flower- Yes it is that pretty in person and its only $39? I will take two for a bangle. 3.) White & Green Lock– Green is my favorite color 🙂 4.) My Life is a Gift and I am Grateful Spacers- Truly new wisdom for 2021 5.) Sense– Beautiful and easy to use in most of my existing Trollbeads collection. 6.) Universal– This will look sooo pretty with the Mist of Nature Kit. 7.) Mazy Spacer– So pretty. Bigger than I expected but it lays so nicely in between 2 beads.
