Trollbeads Spring 2017- Back to Whimsy
What brought you to Trollbeads? Was it the incredible glass? Did you like that the beads were all made by hand? Had you never seen anything like it before? Did you fall in love with the idea of telling your story or expressing yourself through something you could wear every day? For me, it was all of those things and one more, I loved the natural element of it and the playful, whymsical feel of the silver beads. This is something you can view in much of the older Troll stuff, but recently has toned down a bit in my opinion. While I love so many of the releases this one made me say “YES! There is the magic!”. This release feels like Trollbeads is really getting in touch with its roots and I for one, could not be happier about it.

Let’s have a look at the glass before diving into the extensive silver collection. I am a huge glass bead fan, so when I heard there, again, would only be one glass kit I was bummed. Until I saw the glass kit. These colors are incredible and the designs are unique. No copy cat glass beads in this collection, unlike some of the sparkle beads from releases past. There is still that beautiful copper sparkle to some of the beads without looking like any other glass bead in the collection. Two of my favorite colors to style together are green and orange, so that this kit has 5 beads that live in that little color world makes me so so so happy!

My only (very small) critique of the kit is one of the beads is somewhat hard to style (for me) with the rest of the kit. I love all 6 beads, but Sweetness just doesn’t flow for me. Yet. I have not given up and you all will be the first ones to know when I feel like I really make them all work together.
Now lets talk about silver. I am really happy with this lovely collection and like I said earlier I think this hearkens back to Trollbeads early days with the fun, playful, whymsical fairies and the nature inspired beads. There are 3 larger silver pieces that I know are intended to be used as necklace pendants, but I live the Magic Fairy and the Dancing Fairy on Bangles as well. The Take a Chance did not work on a bracelet for me because the sweet little fairy feet did some major wrist poking. Even though larger charms can some times make me a little nervous about how they will look on a finished piece, I think they all look fantastic and attention grabbing without being way too over the top.
