Trollbeads People’s Bead 2019: Turtle Flower

Friday August 23rd, 2019 there was a new member added to the very illusive Trollbeads People’s Bead club. The Turtle Flower is quite a stunning bead designed by Giada Manfredi who was inspired by a recent vacation. “I have always loved turtles. Every time I go to a new city or on holiday, I search for something like a pendant or a little figure that shows a turtle. Well … my house is full of turtles! I found the inspiration from a holiday in Sharm el Sheik, where I was at a boat trip. I was snorkelling, and I hoped to see a turtle…that was my dream. Three excursions were planned that day. During the first and the second excursions, I saw many beautiful fish but no turtles. On the third excursion I had almost given up hope. And just there I saw an amazing sea turtle that was swimming next to me! I was so excited that I could not move. It looked like the turtle was dancing, as a flower cradled by the wind.” Talk about an amazing inspiration!

So, what do we think of the bead? I love it. The flower and the turtle are both stunningly rendered, and you all know how much I love a big Trollbeads Flower on my bracelet. That being said, the hole through the bead is not centered, making wearing mine on a bangle a bit clumsy feeling with the way the turtle’s legs align with the beads. Will I wear, use and love this bead? Without a doubt, but probably only on a Foxtail chain, not making it my most versatile item, but still one I really enjoy.
