Breaking Out of Trollbead Comfort Zones

Last month I confided in all of you my number one fashion fear: bright colors. It’s not that I dislike them. I just struggle with mixing different tones. So to put my jewelry design skills to the test I set out to design some pieces that are full of beautiful colors!

Breaking out of your comfort zone is challenging, even if it is just with clothes or jewelry. I can tell you that the bracelets you see pictured are not my first design attempt! Looking at all of our inventory trays of bright colors was actually intimidating. I know that the bright beads are beautiful and I totally love looking at them, but when it came to putting a finished piece together for myself, I experienced momentary paralysis. Somehow by changing it up and wearing some sunny colors, I felt I would have to alter my identity.

So… I definitely crept on Instagram and spied on what some of you ladies do! And then… Inspiration!

From fire engine reds, floral prints and shimmer, I went all out! My personal favorite bangle is a twisted silver bangle with bright pastel greens and blues. This particular combination reminds me of a day at the beach. Which is exactly what I dream of right now as we are enduring a chilly month of Ohio weather.

What are your favorite colors to mix and match? I want to hear all about them.

  1. You have me some great ideas to mix up left over beads I have. I have found the bracelets I did in red and blue, not my favorite colors, were a huge challenge. I really fussed over them because of not being comfortable with the colors and they turned out fabulous. I like the greens, teal, ambers and muddy colors because that is what I wear. I will send a few pics. I enjoy your writing.
